Pregnancy doesn’t have to be painful! One of the reasons we experience pain during pregnancy is that the body releases peaks of the hormone relaxin which, as the name suggests, leads to loosening or relaxation of the body’s ligaments and muscles. Relaxin is a great thing because it allows the pelvis and uterus to prepare for the birth of the child. Unfortunately it can also cause a lot of trouble, amplifying spinal problems that the almost-mum may not even know she had, leading to pain and discomfort.
