What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is the psychological process of bringing one’s attention to experiences occurring in the present moment. This can be developed through practice and our three-week course teaches you the skills to be able to practice mindfulness in your everyday life.
Mindfulness is about having awareness of your own self as well as what’s going on around you. Mindfulness isn’t only about meditation rather it is the ability to be calm and present at work, socially, in relationships and all aspects of life situations.
Why did we include this at the clinic?
At BNH we care about you holistically. The body and mind need to work in harmony in order for you to function to full potential. Many of you will be specifically working on physiological issues and we encourage you to work with psychological ones as well, bringing your mind and body into a sequence.
How it goes hand and hand with our other services
Mindfulness is an essential complement to all our other services. You will develop a higher sense of self-awareness and become more consciously aware of your treatments and take charge of your progress to full recovery.
Benefits of Mindfulness
Large population-based research studies have indicated that the practice of mindfulness is strongly correlated with greater well-being and perceived health. This is applicable to society at large as well as specific settings such as workplaces and schools. Studies have also shown that rumination and worry contribute to mental illnesses such as depression and anxiety and that mindfulness-based intervention are effective in the reduction of both rumination and worry.
