Naturopath’s Weight Loss Diet Brisbane
Are you struggling to lose weight or prevent weight gain?
Do you have problems losing weight or keeping it off? Many patients that we see at the Shift Clinic for chronic health issues also suffer from excessive weight. Having extra weight can have a detrimental influence on your physical and psychological well-being. Most patients have often been on countless diets, only to regain it all – resulting in overwhelming frustration and for some people, depression.
There are numerous reasons why you may have gained excess body fat or have issues maintaining your weight after dieting or doing a weight loss program. Lifestyle and good eating habits are just two of these factors.
Our naturopaths have extensive experience in health coaching and, life nutrition and can support you on your health journey. We offer unbelievably supportive healthcare and genuine care for your diet and exercise regime. We are here to support you to lose weight using a holistic approach.
Naturopathy is based on treating the cause of health issues like weight gain, and not just the symptoms. The same approach applies when we address weight loss problems. The cause needs to be found first and treated well before adequate fat loss can be achieved.
Signs and symptoms of a weight problem or obesity
Here are some common signs and symptoms of a weight problem or obesity:
Increased body weight – the most common sign of obesity is increased body weight, which is typically measured by calculating your body mass index (BMI). Metabolic assessments showing a BMI of 30 or higher are considered obese.
Difficulty in performing physical activities such as walking, running or climbing stairs.
Shortness of breath, even with mild physical activity.
Joint pain – excess weight puts extra pressure on the joints, which can lead to joint pain.
Sleep apnoea.
High blood pressure.
High cholesterol.
Infertility: carrying excess weight can cause hormonal imbalances that can lead to infertility in both men and women.
Mental health problems: weight gain can also have an impact on mental health and can lead to depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem.
Low energy.
Causes of weight management issues
Some of the causes for resistant fat loss, regaining weight after dieting or why you may have gained excess weight in the first place are:
Metabolic diseases such as insulin resistance and diabetes
Thyroid gland dysfunction
Sex hormone imbalances
Fatty liver
Toxicity
Inflammation
Chronic stress
Depression
Genetic influences
Abnormal appetite regulation, leading to issues with portion control
Medication-related
Heart disease
Food intolerances
Poor gut health
Physical or emotional trauma.
Not only can these have an impact on your body composition, but they also affect your overall health. By treating these causes, often we can correct any other health issues you may be suffering from at the same time. Our aim is to support your success in living a healthier life with the right nutrition and food recommendations from your very first appointment.
Our Natural Weight Loss Program at the Shift Clinic offers a holistic approach to fat loss. The program includes an initial consultation as well as a nutrition consultation, where we can do an assessment of your medical history and dietary habits (like helping you to meal plan). At this initial consultation, we can also order a range of pathology testing to find out what may be the cause of your weight gain.
How a naturopathy weight loss program can help you lose weight
Losing weight is often associated with restrictive diets that eliminate all your favourite foods. However, this doesn’t have to be the case. It is possible to achieve weight loss success while still enjoying the foods you love in moderation.
Our team is not a weight loss doctor or dietician service. We have both naturopaths and nutritionists who are experienced in helping you create healthy habits that will help you achieve your health goals. We are not like any other weight loss programs you have tried. Healthy habits include good nutrition, as well as good physical, mental and emotional well-being. We will help you develop life nutrition skills and help you improve your overall health.
We know weight loss can be challenging, but our team will be with you every step of the way on your weight loss journey. We will assist you with food, diet and exercise suggestions.

FAQs
Is naturopathy good for weight loss?
Yes, naturopathy is a valuable part of a weight loss plan because it helps to address the underlying issues that can contribute to weight gain – like thyroid disease, insulin resistance, inflammation and hormonal imbalance. Our naturopaths can also give you a diet that is right for you and helps to motivate and inspire you to live a healthier lifestyle. It’s not a magic solution though, weight loss takes an integrated approach with you in the centre.
You will often find that when you see one of our emotional wellness experts (including hypnotherapy, holographic kinetics and kinesiology) as well as seeing your naturopath, the diet and nutritional changes you are making become so much easier without the emotional trauma, triggers and baggage you have been carrying.
People who do our 8-week specific Shift Weight Loss Program combining naturopathy and hypnotherapy often have amazing, life-lasting results.
